Primary Professional Experience

Owner and president of Atlantic States Weather Inc. since 2004. Atlantic States Weather has provided forensic and other meteorological consulting services for the U.S. Department of Justice, North Carolina Attorney General's Office, North Carolina Division of Emergency Management and over 90 law firms representing both plaintiffs and defendants in 23 states, the UK, and Greece.

  • Specializing in reconstructing hurricane associated winds and storm surge impact at specific locations. Hurricanes include Katrina, Wilma, Ike, Dolly, Isabel, Fran, Ivan and Isaac
  • Skilled at providing analyses of impacts of high winds, tornadoes, hail, ice (slip and fall), flooding rains, dangerous temperatures

Over 40 years of applied meteorological experience including:

  • 14 years as Meteorologist-In-Charge of the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Raleigh , NC (1990-2004)
  • 10 years as Area Manager for all NWS operations in North Carolina (1990-2000)
  • 4 years as Meteorologist-In-Charge of the National Weather Service Office in Houston, TX (1983-1987)
  • Principal technical and policy advisor to the Director of the National Weather Service for hurricane and winter storm operations (1987-1990)
